Wednesday's highlights:
• Barcelona thrashed a hapless Newcastle in a 7-2 demolition to seal a spot in the quarter-finals as Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha netted braces
• On a huge night at Anfield, Liverpool produced one of their best performances of the season to overturn a one-goal deficit against Turkish giants Galatasaray with a 4-0 win
• Igor Tudor's Tottenham looked a much-improved side too, but it wasn't quite enough, with them claiming a 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid but the Spanish side prevailing 7-5 on aggregate
• It was more of the same from Bayern Munich, who beat Atalanta 4-1 to win an extremely one-sided tie 10-2
Wednesday's matches:
Barcelona 7-2 Newcastle (8-3 agg.)
Bayern Munich 4-1 Atalanta (10-2 agg.)
Liverpool 4-0 Galatasaray (4-1 agg.)
Tottenham 3-2 Atletico Madrid (5-7 agg.)
Key updates and insights:
23:28 CET - That brings an end to this season's round of 16, one that produced a huge amount of goals and has set up a tantalising quarter-final lineup. With each tie being won by the favourite, we really couldn't ask for more from the action we'll be treated to in the last eight.
Quarter-final 1: PSG vs Liverpool
Quarter-final 2: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich
Quarter-final 3: Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid
Quarter-final 4: Sporting vs Arsenal
Our live Champions League coverage will return for the start of the quarter-finals in three weeks, and we'll be keeping you up to date with all the international and domestic action until then, as well as tomorrow night's Europa League and Conference League games.
See you soon!
22:53 CET - Tottenham have certainly shown some spirit tonight, with Simons bagging his second of the night from the spot to put them back in front, but Atleti ultimately held on to prevail 7-5 on aggregate and set up a quarter-final clash with domestic rivals Barcelona.
Things were much less tight in Munich, where Bayern eased to a 4-1 victory to win their tie with Atalanta 10-2. Next up for them is the smaller matter of a meeting with Real Madrid.
It was ultimately a comfortable ending to the night for Liverpool too, who produced one of their best performances of the season to overturn a first-leg Galatasaray by scoring four without reply at Anfield. They'll need more of the same in the next round, where they will face reigning champions PSG.
22:35 CET - Atleti have pegged Spurs back again through defender David Hancko, making it 7-4 on aggregate with just over 10 minutes to go. That's surely the end of the English side's European campaign.
22:24 CET - This has turned into the dream night for Liverpool, with Salah now making amends for his earlier penalty miss but cutting inside and curling a beauty into the far corner. That's surely that for the tie.
22:17 CET - Arne Slot's boys are running rampant now! Ryan Gravenberch has extended their lead by firing in a rebound from the edge of the box to give them a two-goal cushion on aggregate. That's the Dutchman's first Champions League goal since 25th November 2020, when he scored for Ajax against Midtjylland.
Bayern have three on the night too courtesy of Kane and Lennart Karl, who has completed a lovely team move. That's 9-1 to the German side on aggregate now.

22:12 - Liverpool have a second and so do Spurs!
At Anfield, Hugo Ekitike has fired in a ball across the box from Salah to put Liverpool ahead for the first time in the tie.
In North London, Xavi Simons has put Spurs ahead again, giving them the smallest glimmer of hope.
22:07 CET - It may well be game over for Spurs, with the English side making a nightmare start to the second, conceding after just two minutes.
Julian Alvarez has made it 1-1 and 6-3 on aggregate by putting the finishing touches on a blistering counter-attack.

21:51 CET - Half-time across Europe, and we have some interesting storylines being generated. Liverpool have been dominant against Galatasaray, but have spurned some massive chances to only lead 1-0 on the night.
Bayern are in control against Atalanta with Harry Kane netting a penalty to put them 1-0 up in the second leg and 7-1 up on aggregate. Spurs are making it interesting against Atletico Madrid, and they are now just two goals down having taken the lead through Randal Kolo Muani.

21:48 CET - Liverpool miss a golden chance! After they are given a penalty, Mo Salah steps up to give them the lead in the tie over Galatasaray, but the Egyptian seemingly fluffs a panenka to see it saved easily. Still all level in the tie.
21:31 CET - Is there life in Tottenham?! They have reduced the arrears to two in North London, with Randal Kolo Muani scoring the opener on the night against Atletico Madrid.
Is the comeback on?
21:25 CET - Liverpool lead Galatasaray, and it's their starman, Dominik Szoboszlai! Found on the edge of the area from a corner, the Hungarian sweeps home the opener.
Game on at Anfield!

Meanwhile, in Germany, Harry Kane has taken the lead for Bayern Munich against Atalanta, with a penalty at the second time of asking. That's his 15th goal from a spot kick this season from his tally of 46.

21:22 CET - With two of the ties looking all but over, Liverpool and Galatasaray have the most evenly poised encounter, and the visitors have been doing their best to 'disrupt' the game. The ball has been in play for just over 50% of the time so far, meaning neither side have found their tempo.

21:10 CET - No goals so far in the opening exchanges, but plenty of controversy around Victor Osimhen at Anfield. He is down after a tackle from Ibrahima Konate, where the Nigerian striker is holding his wrist. After a protracted time on the ground, he remonstrates with Liverpool's players about the severity of his knock, but he will continue. Feisty stuff.

21:00 CET - Nine goals in the early game, how many more are we in for with the three late games? They are all underway, here we go!
20:42 CET - All over dead on the 90' at Camp Nou, which tells you everything you need to know about Barcelona's thrashing of Newcastle.
It was 2-2 at the break after an end-to-end first half, but Barcelona turned on the style in the second half, taking advantage of a porous Newcastle backline to score five and book their spot in the last eight.

20:23 CET - A night to forget for Newcastle just gets worse and worse, as a slip from Jacob Ramsey gifts the ball to Raphinha inside the box, and the Brazilian doesn't miss those, slotting home his second of the night. It's 7(SEVEN)-2 at Camp Nou, and we still have 17 minutes to play.

20:20 CET - One team who are 99.9% guarenteed a spot in the quarters is Bayern Munich. After their 6-1 battering of Atalanta last week away from home, the Bavarians have not rotated, with Harry Kane starting up top. The big question mark was their injury crisis in goal, but Jonas Urbig has been passed fit for the encounter.
For Atalanta, they will need to start fast at the Allianz Arena to pull off one of the biggest upsets in Champions League history.

20:13 CET - Poor Aaron Ramsdale, he must be getting flashbacks of his time at Southampton tonight... Barcelona carve Newcastle open again, giving Robert Lewandowski the simple job of slotting home and making it 7-3 on aggregate. It's been an onslaught since half-time from the Catalans, and Ramsdale has been unable to stop it.
20:06 CET - Given the focus on set pieces this season in the Premier League, you'd think Newcastle would be able to defend them better. Alas, Barcelona have scored from a corner to make it 5-2. A perfect cross from Raphinha finds Robert Lewandowski at the back post, and he can't miss, heading the ball back across goal to all but settle the tie.

20:02 CET - Newcastle have their mountain to climb now at Camp Nou! Barcelona, with just two passes, cut them to ribbons at the back, and Fermin Lopez makes no mistake with his one-on-one finish to make it 4-2 on the night, and give Barca a 5-3 lead on aggregate.

20:00 CET - Tottenham Hotspur have a mountain to climb as they welcome Atletico Madrid to North London from 21:00 CET, as they look to overcome a three-goal deficit to reignite their disastrous season.
Igor Tudor got his first point as Spurs boss at the weekend, and he has opted for Randal Kolo Muani up top despite Richarlison's strike in that draw against Liverpool.
Diego Simeone has had to make a change in goal with Atleti's Jan Oblak missing through injury, meaning Juan Musso will don the gloves tonight.

19:55 CET - Back underway for what promises to be a dramatic second half in Barcelona, and Newcastle have made a change at the break, with Tino Livramento on for Keiran Trippier, who picked up that yellow card just before the break.
19:51 CET - As we await the restart at Camp Nou, let's bring you the team news from Anfield, where Liverpool need a win to make sure they don't exit the Champions League tonight.
Galatasaray hold a one-goal advantage from the first leg, and Arne Slot has not rolled the dice with his selection as some fans were calling for. Alisson, who missed last week's match, is back in goal, whilst Jeremie Frimpong comes in for Joe Gomez at right-back.
Meanwhile, the Super Lig leaders have brought in Roland Sallai and Sacha Boey for the suspended Davinson Sanchez and Noa Lang, who is on the bench.

19:41 CET - We've spoken about how end-to-end this game has been already, but our match momentum highlights it perfectly.

The xG stats for those wondering... Barcelona 1.85 - 1.42 Newcastle. It's a close game, and Eddie Howe will feel his side can turn it around once more in the second half.
19:38 CET - Half-time at Camp Nou, and controversy brings the first half to a close. Raphinha goes down after a tug from Keiran Trippier in the box, and after a VAR check, the penalty is given. In truth, the Newcastle captain is lucky to remain on the pitch, getting away with just a yellow.
It's Lamine Yamal to take the spot-kick, and he doesn't send Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way, but the English keeper can only palm it into the net.
Barca back in front for a third time in the leg, what a breathless 45 minutes - more of the same, please?

19:14 CET - He's done it again! Behind twice, Anthony Elanga has brought Newcastle back level in the tie for a second time. Harvey Barnes puts a teasing ball across the face of the goal, and his opposite winger is on hand to tap in. What a first half we have had at Camp Nou!

19:08 CET - It's not all good news for Barcelona, though, as they have been forced into an early change. Ronald Araujo has come on to replace Eric Garcia, who seemed to have picked up a knock.
19:04 CET - Goals, goals and more goals! Barcelona lead again to make it 2-1 on the night against Newcastle! A free-kick finds the head of Gerard Martin, who picks out Marc Bernal to tuck away the tap-in.
19:00 CET - Speed does the trick for Newcastle! Lewis Hall finds space down the left-hand side and crosses an early ball behind the back-pedalling Barcelona defence to Anthony Elanga, and the winger finishes well first time. Game on at Camp Nou!

18:51 CET - Captain fantastic! Raphinha gives Barcelona the perfect start with an early goal against Newcastle. Lamine Yamal breaks through the middle, slides in a nice pass to Fermin, who finds the Brazilian, and he makes no mistake with a close-range finish into the bottom corner.
All to do for the Magpies now...

18:45 CET - Let's get the party started - we are underway at Camp Nou. Who will be making it to the quarter-finals, and who will be bowing out tonight?
18:18 CET - With just under 30 minutes to go until kick off at Camp Nou, watch our video preview now.
17:35 CET - Here we go again, after last night's pyrotechnics, we have four more blockbuster fixtures this evening, which starts at Camp Nou in what is a finely poised second leg between Newcastle and hosts Barcelona.
They drew 1-1 at St James' Park last week, with Lamine Yamal netting a stoppage-time penalty to cancel out Harvey Barnes' late opener.
And both managers have not changed much from eight days ago. Eddie Howe has made just one alteration to his XI, bringing in Anthony Gordon for William Osula, meaning the visitors go into the game without a recognised striker.
Meanwhile, for Barcelona, Hansi Flick has also made just the one change, as Ronald Araujo misses out in favour of Eric Garcia.

Tuesday, March 17th
23:40 CET - That's all for today from the Champions League, but be sure to tune in again on Wednesday evening as we find out the last four quarter-final participants!
We do have one final-eight tie settled: Arsenal will take on Sporting for a place in the semis.
See who could face who in the bracket here.
23:05 CET - A fascinating night of football, which started with a sensational comeback in Lisbon, has reached its conclusion.
Take a look at the match stats from the three late kick-offs as giants Real Madrid and PSG got the job done against Man City and Chelsea, whilst Arsenal's quadruple dream remains alive and well after an impressive 2-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen.

22:53 CET - Despite countless offside goals at both ends and a good second half performance from City, they look set to lose again tonight after a late dagger by Vinicius Junior extends Real's aggregate lead with his second goal of the night.
22:21 CET - As PSG extend their lead to 8-2 on aggregate to humiliate Chelsea even more, Arsenal are 2-0 ahead and cruising through! This time, it is Declan Rice who fires a strike from the edge of the box, drilling his effort into the bottom left corner.
Another stunning strike has put this tie to bed. The Gunners are quarter-final bound!
22:05 CET - It is second half time and the third of four quarters in these last 16 ties... Will we see any drama?
21:48 CET - The half-time whistle has blown in all three late kick-offs, and all the matches are going exactly as expected so far.
The only tie that has something on it still is at the Emirates, as Arsenal's advantage remains slender.

A late goal before the break from Erling Haaland has given Man City a slight hope of mounting a comeback, but they still must find three second half goals. Likely? It does not feel like it.

21:40 CET - What a goal by Eberechi Eze to give Arsenal the lead on the night! The attacking midfielder's first-ever Champions League goal is a rocket after he found the top corner on the half turn! It was a sensational strike from a player very much capable of the spectacular! Arsenal now lead the tie and at home, you would fancy them from here.

21:25 CET - Manchester City look to be joining their Premier League rivals Chelsea in crashing out after a nightmare start of their own! Bernardo Silva has seen a straight red after handling the ball on the line in an incredible incident and Vinicius Junior stepped up from the spot to put Real ahead on the night. 4-0 on aggregate and tie over surely?
21:22 CET - Sporting are now 5-0 ahead and out of sight, an impressive showing from the Portuguese giants.
That tie is now over as Sporting become the first team to book a quarter-final spot!
21:15 CET - A lovely PSG move fell to Bradley Barcola on the edge of the box and the young winger did the rest with a brilliant first-time finish. Poor defending from Chelsea again, though, affording Barcola way too much time and space to pick his spot.
21:12 CET - The worst possible start for Chelsea tonight! PSG now lead by four goals after a disastrous mistake by young defender Mamadou Sarr on his first Champions League start allowed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to win possession inside the box before finding the bottom corner. Tie over.
21:05 CET - Play is underway across the three late matches tonight in what promises to be a fascinating night of Champions League action - one that has got off to a flying start in Lisbon.
20:58 CET - An incredible stat about Sporting's comeback to bring you: Sporting's remontada is the first to three goals since Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona in 2019!
20:50 CET - After completing the comeback in normal time, Sporting are now ahead on aggregate after taking a 4-0 lead in extra time! It is another brilliantly worked team move before the ball fell to Uruguayan forward Maximiliano Araujo on the edge of the box and he made no mistake with the finish. Game over?
An inquest into how this night went so badly wrong for Bodo is sure to follow but perhaps it is just the simple case of a team in a foreign position, not quite knowing what to do.
Their inexperience on this stage and managing European ties has definitely shown tonight.
20:40 CET - Somehow, we head to extra time in Lisbon after Sporting CP mounted an unlikely yet sensational comeback against Bodo/Glimt this evening. Bodo's fairytale campaign is in serious danger of coming to an end here unless Kjetil Knutsen can regalvanise his side ahead of extra time.

20:23 CET - Wow! Sporting CP are level in the tie after taking a 3-0 lead on the night after Luis Suarez made no mistake from the penalty spot! All the momentum is with the hosts and it feels almost inevitable that they will find a winner before potential extra time. Can Bodo hold on and regroup before 30 more minutes?

20:05 CET - Sporting CP have pulled another one back and it is really game on in Lisbon now! It was a brilliant move from the hosts as Geny Catamo threaded an inch-perfect ball for Luis Suarez and the Colombian forward squared it on a plate for talisman Pedro Goncalves to tap home. Game on...
19:50 CET - The team news is out for the evening games, with Manchester City fielding a very attacking line-up against Real Madrid. Rayan Cherki, Jeremy Doku, Tijani Reijnders, and Bernardo Silva are all in the XI behind Erling Haaland.
Meanwhile, over at the Emirates, Arsenal start Ben White at right back, while Leandro Trossard, Viktor Gyokeres and Piero Hincapie return to the starting XI.

19:20 CET - Sporting have taken the first step towards a comeback, with Goncalo Inacio heading home to give the Portuguese side a 1-0 lead. They still need another two goals to draw level on aggregate.
17:40 CET - The lineups are in for the evening's first match, between Sporting CP and Bodo/Glimt in Lisbon.
To remind you, Bodo lead this tie 3-0, meaning Sporting simply have to score relatively early to gain the momentum and push for the turnaround they need. Check out the XIs below:

16:15 CET - Good afternoon and welcome to a big night of Champions League Round of 16 football!
After thrilling first legs last week, the pressure is on in the decisive second legs over the next two evenings. Teams in the driver's seat have the challenge of keeping their composure, whilst sides chasing big first-leg deficits have their work cut out to produce unlikely comebacks.
Starting us off tonight is Sporting CP against Bodo/Glimt from 18:45 CET. Hosts Sporting are one of those sides hoping to deliver an unlikely comeback after falling to a 3-0 defeat in Norway last week.
Pulling off such a comeback against a Bodo side that have proven this season they belong on the biggest stage is easier said than done - a massive challenge ahead for the Portuguese giants.
Follow that match from 18:45 CET.
