Real Madrid and Belgium stopper Thibaut Courtois (30) has won this year's Yachine Trophy as the world's best goalkeeper after winning both LaLiga and the Champions League in the 2021/22 season.

Courtois was an ever-present for Los Blancos last season, making 50 appearances in all competitions as his side reigned over the rest of Europe with a 1-0 win over Liverpool in Paris and made some great saves to keep his clean sheet, ultimately deciding the game.

At the ceremony hosted by France Football, he thanked his teammates and his club for their support.

On stage after receiving the trophy he said: "It's an amazing feeling. Last year was an amazing feeling for all of us, especially for me and I am really proud to win this trophy in front of all these amazing goalkeepers in this world.

"I also want to thank my fiancee, my kids, for all their support. It is easy when things go well but it's harder when things don't go so well and they are the first ones to pick you up."

He also added in his interview after the presentation that he hoped he could add the World Cup to his trophy cabinet with Belgium later this year.

Courtois kept 16 clean sheets in 36 games in last season's LaLiga and another five in the Champions League including the final.
