'I've never seen a whole stadium make racist insults': Ancelotti defends Vinicius Jr
"I am very sad, we have to put an end to this because we are in 2023, racism should not exist. Now it is true that there is a protocol, the referee has explained that first you have to warn people and if they do it again, go home," explained Ancelotti about what happened during the Valencia - Real Madrid match.
Afterwards, the Real Madrid coach went on to take the heat and blamed the whole of the fans for what had happened to his player.
Vinicius' sending off
"The stadium was shouting 'monkey, monkey' at him. He is a kid, he likes to play football, he wanted to continue, but in this situation it is very complicated.
"From the VAR they have invented an aggression that doesn't exist. He tried to free himself from an aggression and he was sent off".
Changing Vinicius after the racist insult
"I spoke to him during the game. The atmosphere was very hot, very bad. I asked him if he wanted to continue playing because the atmosphere was racist. I have never thought about taking a player off for racism. It has never happened to me. Not like that. It is unacceptable.
"The Spanish League has a problem, it's not Vini. Vini Jr. is the victim.
Vinicius' state of mind
"We are all with him, but we are sad. He wasn't angry, he was sad. They should have stopped the match because it's not that one person has gone mad, but that the whole stadium has gone mad."
The insults
"I don't know what happened to him. I've never seen a whole stadium make racist insults. It has never happened to me before. All young players have to improve, but we have to take into account that when a whole stadium insults you, young players are not able to be cool.
"Their reaction is normal. The club, myself and his teammates support him in everything".
A solution?
"Although there are many complaints from Antiviolencia, nothing has ever happened. For me the solution is to stop the match. It's clear, this can't go on. He is the player who receives more fouls and more insults.
"The referee said he had to continue and I told him I was going to take him off. He told me that if it happens again, the protocol will continue."
