The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has spoken out about the latest episode of racism suffered by Real Madrid striker Vinicius Jr (22). During Sunday's match between Real Madrid and Valencia, at Mestalla, local fans even shouted "mono" several times in the second half.

Vinicius Jr was outraged by the incident, which forced a halt to the game and warnings to fans via the stadium's sound system. The Real Madrid player ended up losing his head at the end when he was sent off for assaulting an opponent.

In a statement signed by its president, CBF questions the incident, which keeps happening repeatedly in LaLiga.

"Until when will we still experience, in the 21st century, episodes like the one we have just witnessed, once again, in LaLiga?

"Until when will humanity still be just a spectator and accomplice of cruel acts of racism? Until when will we need to remember that it is a crime?

"Until when will we have to fight for concrete and effective attitudes on and off the pitch? There is no joy where there is racism. You have all our love and the love of all Brazilians, Vini.

"Not only you, but everyone who has suffered and suffers from this worldwide disease, which is racism. The colour of the skin can no longer bother," concludes the note.
