Three seeded Americans recorded straight-set victories to easily advance at the Atlanta Open on Wednesday in Georgia.

Fourth-seed Frances Tiafoe (24) cruised past Japanese qualifier Taro Daniel (29) 7-5, 6-4, number five seed Tommy Paul (25) easily dispatched Soonwoo Kwon (24) of South Korea 6-3, 6-3, and number eight seed Brandon Nakashima (20) ousted Australian John Millman (33) 7-6 (8), 6-4.

A fourth, Reilly Opelka (24), was forced to withdraw from the tournament with an injury. Lucky loser Steve Johnson (32) of the United States took his spot and lost 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (28).

Generali Open

Serbia's Dusan Lajovic (32) advanced by upsetting number four seed Aslan Karatsev (28) of Russia 7-5, 6-3 in Kitzbuhel, Austria.

Three of four Spaniards who played won their matches in straight sets. Third-seed Roberto Bautista Agut (34) soared past wildcard Jurij Rodionov (23) of Austria 6-1, 6-4, Albert Ramos-Vinolas (34) handled Peru's Juan Pablo Varillas (26) 6-3, 6-4, and Pedro Martinez (25) buzzed by Federico Coria (30) of Argentina 6-4, 6-3.

Pablo Andujar (36) was the only Spaniard to suffer defeat, falling to Austrian wildcard Filip Misolic (20) 6-4, 6-0.

In an all-Austrian match, Dominic Thiem (28), who is playing on a protected ranking, got by qualifier Sebastian Ofner (26) 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Other results included Jiri Lehecka (20) of the Czech Republic besting eighth-seeded Joao Sousa (33) of Portugal 7-6 (6), 1-6, 6-3, and German Yannick Hanfmann (30) taking down Russian Ivan Gakhov (25) 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4.

Croatia Open Umag

Spaniards Bernabe Zapata Miralles (25) and Roberto Carballes Baena (29) both managed to pull off upsets in their respective matches in Umag, Croatia.

Zapata Miralles battled back to edge third-seed Holger Rune (19) of Denmark 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, while Carballes Baena followed a similar path to best Alex Molcan (24) of Slovakia.

Second-seed Italian Jannik Sinner (20) bested Spain's Jaume Munar (25) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. His fellow countryman, qualifier Giulio Zeppieri (20), also earned a win, defeating Colombia's Daniel Elahi Galan (26) 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
